Key specs for this set

Height Type: counter height

This set uses standard counter-height dimensions. The table stands 36 inches high, and the chairs have a seat height of 24.5 inches. This configuration suits casual dining areas and kitchen islands. You should verify your counter height matches these specs. Standard dining sets are lower, while bar sets are taller. This height creates an open, airy feel in your space.

Table Dimensions: 42"-60" x 42" x 36"

The oval table extends from 42 inches to 60 inches using a drop-leaf design. This allows you to accommodate extra guests during gatherings. The 42-inch width remains constant. The 36-inch height aligns with counter standards. You benefit from flexible seating without needing a large permanent footprint. Compare this expandability to fixed-size tables when shopping.

Table Material: oak veneer

The tabletop features a dark gray oak veneer. Veneer provides the look of solid wood with a lighter weight. This material offers a durable surface for daily meals. The finish pairs with the weathered white rubberwood base. You get a rustic aesthetic without the cost of solid hardwood. Check veneer thickness if durability is your primary concern.

Design and Build Details

The listing specifies a two-tone finish combining dark gray oak veneer on the tabletop with a weathered white rubberwood base and chairs. This contrast creates a rustic farmhouse aesthetic. The oval shape and grid-back chair design contribute to an open, airy feel in your dining room or kitchen. You get a complete five-piece set, which includes the expandable table and four matching chairs.

The table extends from 42 inches to 60 inches using a drop-leaf mechanism. This feature allows you to accommodate extra guests during gatherings without requiring a permanently large footprint. The built-in shelf sits 18 inches high, providing convenient storage for dining essentials, serving dishes, or decorative items. The chairs measure 41 inches tall with a seat height of 24.5 inches. The seats are upholstered in gray cushioned leatherette, offering a comfortable surface for casual dining.

According to the listing, the entire set weighs 150 pounds. The table dimensions are 42 inches wide, 36 inches high, and extend up to 60 inches in length. This counter-height configuration suits standard kitchen counters and islands. The drop-leaf control is manual, requiring you to physically lift and secure the leaves. The materials and dimensions suggest this set is designed for flexible use in medium-sized spaces where you need to adjust seating capacity as needed.

Setup and everyday use guide

Setting up the CARTESIAN 5-piece set involves assembling the oval table and four grid-back chairs. The table extends from 42 inches to 60 inches using a drop-leaf mechanism. This design allows you to adjust the footprint based on your space. The base and chairs are finished in weathered white rubberwood, while the top uses dark gray oak veneer. You will need to ensure your dining area can accommodate the full 60-inch length when expanded. The chairs feature gray cushioned leatherette seats. These seats sit at a 24.5-inch height, matching the 36-inch table height for standard counter use. Daily use benefits from the built-in storage shelf located 18 inches above the floor. You can place serving dishes, napkins, or decorative items there. This keeps essentials within reach without cluttering the tabletop. The oval shape promotes easier movement around the table compared to rectangular designs. The grid-back style offers structural support while maintaining visual lightness. You should wipe the leatherette seats with a damp cloth for routine cleaning. The oak veneer top may require specific care to maintain its finish. The total weight of the set is 150 pounds. This mass provides stability during meals. You can move the table to extend it for gatherings or retract it for daily family dinners. The design supports both casual dining and more formal entertaining. You can adjust the seating capacity by simply folding the leaf. This makes the set adaptable for various household needs. The counter height configuration fits well with standard kitchen islands or dining counters. You should verify your existing counter heights match these dimensions before placing the set.

Check Space And Style Fit

Before purchasing the CARTESIAN 5-Piece Oval Counter Height Set, verify your space dimensions carefully. The table expands from 42 to 60 inches, so ensure your room accommodates the maximum length with clearance for chair pull-out. Check ceiling height if you plan to hang lighting above the counter, as the 36-inch table height may require specific fixtures. Maintenance involves wiping the oak veneer and leatherette seats with a damp cloth; avoid harsh chemicals to preserve the weathered white finish. This set suits casual dining areas where flexibility is key. Unlike fixed tables, its drop-leaf design offers adaptability for small apartments or homes with multi-use rooms. Consider how the rustic farmhouse style aligns with your existing kitchen island or dining furniture. If you need a sturdy, expandable option for occasional gatherings, this model fits well among other counter-height selections. Ensure your floor type supports the 150-pound weight without damage.

Check before you buy

• Measure room length for 60-inch table extension
